SHARE NOW

The No. 3 Kentucky Volleyball team led by 20 kills from Eva Hudson and 18 kills from Brooklyn DeLeye swept No. 2 Texas 3-0 (25-14, 28-26, 27-25) in front of a sold-out crowd of 4,155 fans at Gregory Gymnasium. Kentucky becomes the first team to sweep Texas inside Gregory Gymnasium since 2013 when Oklahoma swept the Longhorns in a 26-24, 26-24, 26-24 three-set win.

The win catapults Kentucky into solo first place in the Southeastern Conference, as the Wildcats are now a perfect 11-0 in the SEC with Texas A&M one match back at 10-1 and Texas at 10-2. UK owns the head-to-head won over the Aggies, as well, with five matches remaining in SEC play before the conference tournament in Savannah later this month. Kentucky is now 18-2 on the year. Texas is also 18-2 on the season, having suffered both of its losses this week to TAMU and UK.

Eva Hudson and Brooklyn DeLeye were sensational Sunday with Hudson leading all players in the match with 20 kills to only one hitting error on 42 swings for a .452 hitting efficiency rating and 10 digs for her fifth double-double of the year. DeLeye also hit in the .400’s, clipping the ball at a .417 rate for the match with 18 kills and only three errors on her 36 swings of the afternoon and nine digs to her credit.

Kennedy Washington hit .556 for the afternoon with six kills to one error and two stuff blocks, as Lizzie Carr’s four stuff blocks and Kassie O’Brien’s 11 digs leading the way for Kentucky on the floor to hold Texas to a .248 hitting percentage for the match. UK had 52 kills as a team to only 11 errors on 116 swings as a team with Texas recording 16 hitting errors and 46 kills Sunday afternoon.

Kentucky has now won 15 matches in a row on the season and remains perfect in true road matches this year. The Wildcats will play Missouri on Thursday night in Columbia, Missouri inside the Hearnes Center at 7 p.m. ET with the broadcast airing live on SEC Network+ and the ESPN app.
