Update:

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, troopers attempted to stop a vehicle Wednesday night at around 10:30 p.m. for a traffic violation on the northbound lanes of the Dallas North Tollway near Keller Springs Blvd.

TPS said the driver refused to stop, resulting in a chase with law enforcement. However, troopers lost sight of the vehicle and ended the pursuit.

The vehicle was later found abandoned and had been involved in a crash on the southbound lanes of Dallas Parkway near Warren Parkway.

Later, the driver, identified as Kneeland, was found in the area, dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, according to TPS.

In a statement released by his agent, it has been confirmed that Dallas Cowboys DE Marshawn Kneeland has died. No cause of death has been announced as of yet.

The Cowboys’ said Kneeland was in the middle of his second season with the team and had just score his first career touchdown three days ago against the Cardinals when he recovered a blocked punt in the endzone.

This is a developing story.
