Franklin County Sheriff Chris Quire will retire after a 28-year career in law enforcement.
Quire announced his retirement Tuesday alongside Franklin County Judge Executive Michael Mueller. Quire will officially retire on Thursday, July 31.
“Sheriff Quire’s leadership has strengthened the bond between the sheriffs office and the community it serves,” Mueller said. “We want to thank him for his extraordinary service and wish him the best in well-earned retirement.”
Quire thanked his family and staff for supporting him throughout his career. Quire was first elected to the office in 2018 and was named Kentucky Sheriff of the Year in 2024.
Chief Deputy Dwayne Depp will be appointed to finish out the rest of the current term.
