An early morning house fire has left one person dead and one injured, according to Covington Fire Chief Corey Deye.
Kenton County dispatchers stated that flames broke out in a residence on Garrard Avenue around 1:30 Friday morning, which also resulted in an explosion.
The person who died was found inside the home, according to Chief Dye, while the injured person was taken to St. Elizabeth Hospital in Covington.
Neighboring homes were evacuated as a precaution, but residents will be allowed to return to their residences.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
