Work underway to widen and improve KY 101 near I-65

SHARE NOW

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet announced that work is underway to widen and improve KY 101 near I-65 at Smiths Grove.

Construction work includes widening the northbound and southbound I-65 off-ramps at the Exit 38 interchange, installing new traffic signals at both ramps and building additional lanes and a roundabout on KY 101 to serve side streets.

Work is being done by Buc-ees under an approved KYTC permit.

A work zone is set up along KY 101 near mile point 7.8 between I-65 and U.S. 68. Over the next several months, motorists should expect new traffic patterns, including lane closures, lane shifts, and intermittent flagged traffic.

Delays are possible and traffic is already using some new lane configurations. Travelers are reminded to follow guide signs and stay within lanes marked by cones or barrels.

KYTC is asking motorists to watch for all warning signs and to drive carefully through the work zones.
